As I child, I thought the peak of comedy was the Comic Sans pool sign, “We don’t swim in your toilet so please don’t pee in our pool.” Even as an adult, I must still give props to whomever coined that clever phrase. Also, I am a lifelong believer in that urban legend that some pools have a shame chemical in them that makes the water turn bright purple when in contact with pee. But what about the ocean? Can we pee in the ocean?
Thankfully, some random government organization called the American Chemical Society just sent me a helpful YouTube cartoon answering this question.
Why is this in my inbox? Is there some NSA file on the time I peed at Stinson Beach and immediately grew concerned it would attack sharks? Also, how many people had to nervously ask this question before the American Chemical Society was like, “Someone make a pee cartoon!”
Long story short: “It is absolutely okay to GO in the ocean.”
By GO, they mean pee.
