Have you seen the ad for Axiron, a testosterone prescription drug that is applied like a deodorant?
Unexpected signs of puberty in children! This is when I started paying attention to the commercial, and then noticed that it was applied as underarm treatment, like deodorant. Can you take any prescription drug this way, or just man-hormone drugs? Can you take Prozac like this? Birth control? Oxy? I need to know.
In addition to your kid coming into contact with Axiron and turning into a Scotch-drinking, cigar smoking, chest-haired man (joke credit: my bf), the list of Axiron side-effects is like an SNL sketch.
-increased acne in women
-decreased sperm count
-ankle, feet, OR BODY SWELLING
-enlarged or painful breasts
-problems breathing while sleeping
-blood clots in the legs
Common side-effects include headache, diarrhea, vomiting, and I COULD GO ON.
What is low-testosterone and why is one willing to risk all those side-effects for it? Hold on whilst I Google. According to the Axiron website, and really, they should know:
Hypogonadism is a condition in which a man has low T and may experience symptoms, including:
-Decreased sexual desire (libido)
-Fatigue and loss of energy
-Loss of body hair (decreased need to shave)
-Decrease in strength
-Osteoporosis (decreased bone density)
Only your doctor can determine if you have low T and if treatment may be appropriate for you.
A simple blood test can be used to determine if you have low T.
So basically it’s Viagra applied like deodorant? For all the shit women have to deal with, I’m glad to know the fellas have their own struggles. Also according to the website, you apply your deodorant AT LEAST 2 minutes before applying Axiron, and I can’t find any info on whether or not it comes in “Fresh Linen Scent.”
