Get a load of THIS: On a commercial break while filming her show, Katie Couric revealed to her audience that 1. not only has she kept her dead husband’s land line active in the decade since he passed away, but that 2. the ghost phone calls 911 every Tuesday.
Read all about it here.
It’s happened at least 10 times, always at 2am on a Tuesday, and when the ghost phone calls 911, a cop shows up to Katie Couric’s house and she has to say, “Oh sorry. My dead husband’s ghost phone is up to it’s old antics.”
The real mystery here isn’t that an old phone has a glitch, but that Katie Couric is hanging onto the land line of her dead husband. I could understand keeping his clothes, his cologne, his watch; some personal mementos are perfectly reasonable. I have my late grandfathers’ driver’s license. But maintaining and paying for a forever-unused private landline, which one cannot hug and which any dead person would say, “oh, you can toss that”, makes no sense. It makes less sense than an old dial tone getting screwy after 16 years without use.
