As any food eater knows, the best thing about the Olive Garden (the OG) is the “Tour of Italy” which is a plate of food for people who have never been to Italy. Yet for some reason, whenever the OG hits a rough patch, they fall back on their “unlimited breadsticks” which are the foodstuffs of controversy.
Last year, folks were concerned that the famous breadsticks were too similar to hot dog buns, as if there’s anything wrong with eating a plain hotdog bun along with a pasta dinner, and upset that servers flew a little too fast and loose with the stick distribution. While unlimited, you can’t just get a hundred breadsticks at once. The breadsticks must be doled out on a calculated, spreadsheet friendly manner. We can’t have carb anarchy at the OG. This is where people come to die.
Once again the OG is struggling to bring in diners because it is the Olive Garden. Their big answer to this problem is BREADSTICK SANDWICHES. The breadstick sandwiches will feature a chicken parmigiana or meatball option, and will probably taste bad. You know why? Because the famed OG breadsticks arrive hot from the oven and turn into rock-hard WMDs after 12 seconds. I do not want to bite through gum-assaulting sharp “bread” to get to a shitty meatball. I would however, enjoy a pillowy, perpetually-soft hot dog bun.
Because this is America and we are the worst, OG breadstick sandwiches come with unlimited breadsticks. Meet you there?
