While not classically attractive, country music star and movie actor Tim McGraw has “a quality.” Describing a man as having “a quality” is Eve Batey’s way of explaining how certain ruggedly masculine yet quirky-looking men are attractive to her. It is now a term I will use on Tim McGraw, even though he is bald and refuses to acknowledge it. Tim McGraw wears a cowboy hat not because he is a cowboy but because he doesn’t want you to know that he is bald, bald, bald.
As you know, Slow News Day loves bald men.
Anyway, I liked Tim McGraw and his toupee in “The Blind Side”. The I was watching PBS to feel better about myself and ended up seeing his performance on “Austin City Limits.” While I was unfamiliar with the unfortunate and apparent hit, “Truck Yeah“, I did like his live version of “Friend of a Friend” so I googled Tim McGraw on my phone and learned he was sober. I now LOVE Tim McGraw. Which is why it is with dramatic sad face and side eyes that I bring you the news that Tim McGraw SLAPPED A WOMAN. Naturally, this was caught on video:
Of course, it’s to “Truck Yeah.”
So basically, a woman in the audience was so caught up in “Truck Yeah” that she grabbed Tim McGraw near the buttocks or similar, and he literally bent down and slapped her across the face.
Big sigh. Tim McGraw, this is not okay and indicative of…well, the fact that maybe you think sometimes it’s okay to slap a woman across the face. Look at the slap. He really knocked her head back.
Tim McGraw has this to say about it all: “I reacted in an instinctive, defensive way from my perspective of what was going on. I think it was an unfortunate situation I think all the way around. But it happened, it happened in a split second, it was pure instinctive reaction, I think you just got to move on. It is one of those things that happen, nobody feels good about it, but there’s nothing that could be done about it. You are in that position, you are out there, you are vulnerable, things happen and sometimes you react. There’s nothing to be said about it.”
He could say “I’m sorry.” That’s one thing that can be said about it.
He could say, “She absolutely should not have touched me, but that doesn’t mean I get to touch her. This is why I have a security team and I should have alerted them to the inappropriate woman and let the professionals handle it. I reacted in an inappropriate and shameful way. It is never okay to hit a woman. I’m embarrassed, and I apologize to all of my fans who expect better of of all men, including me.”
BOOM! Tim McGraw, hire me.
Also, here’s his Austin City Limits “Truck Yeah.” I had never heard this song before and was very confused that something so country was real and not a Hollywood creation. Like, I though this kind of thing was saved for Reese Witherspoon movies.
“Hillbilly proud.” Lulz.
*UPDATE* Since I’ve posted this, I’ve watched the “Truck Yeah” video like, 5 times. It’s catchy.
